Our story began at a yacht party celebrating a mutual friend’s surprise engagement. Although we had shared the same group of friends for some time, our paths had never crossed until that day.

Standing there in his blue Oakley sunglasses, Darren caught Kelly’s eye. He claims he “wasn’t into South African girls”… yet by the end of the evening, he was gifting her his spare Rugby Sevens ticket to join the group the next day.

A few sneaky chats, shared drinks, and stares later, we somehow found ourselves at the end of the night together with flat phone batteries and no one else we knew in sight. The evening ended with a sneaky kiss, completely unexpected, yet perfectly timed. Little did we know, that spontaneous night would mark the beginning of something truly magical.

Our first official time together was spent staying up until sunrise drinking wine, playing our favourite music, and talking all night about everything and nothing, discovering just how much we had in common. Darren didn’t know it at the time, but Kelly went home messaging her close friend Jessica, saying she knew she had found the one.

It may have taken ten months and a job opportunity in Saudi Arabia to officially bring us together, but that time taught us the true meaning of love being patient. Love doesn’t rush, it waits, grows, and trusts in perfect timing. And in the end, the wait was more than worth it.

Fast forward four years, and we now share a home, two French bulldogs, a cat, countless memories, and adventures across nine countries including watching our favourite childhood band live in Spain. We truly can’t imagine a world without sharing this beautiful life together.

Now it’s time to make things official and bring our two families together as we become one. We’re so excited to welcome our closest friends and family to our favourite city in the world as we begin this next chapter of our lives—filled with great food, drinks, dancing, and lots of fun.
